Today, November 25, is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. At this occasion, BIRA-IASB signed the pledge for zero tolerance to gender-based violence in academia and research, promoted by the European Union’s Commission on ‘Inclusive Gender Equality in the ERA (European Research Area)’.
By signing this pledge, BIRA-IASB commits to respecting a series of 20 principles which can be found at https://gendersafe.eu/the-gendersafe-pledge-for-zero-tolerance-to-gender-based-violence/. Most of them are already included in the BIRA-IASB Working Rules, which state for example that violence, harassment and transgressive behaviour in the workplace are considered unacceptable and that BIRA-IASB does not tolerate any behaviour or statement that discriminates based on gender, origin, nationality, religion or any other physical or spiritual characteristic. As you know, BIRA-IASB aspires to offer a safe and inspiring environment for all its employees, so this initiative is totally in line with our engagement.
